Businesses in Town Centre, Pitt Meadows
The commercial and civic heart of Pitt Meadows, running along Harris Road between the Lougheed Highway and 119th Avenue. City Hall, the Family Recreation Centre and Spirit Square sit here, along with most of the city's restaurants, banks and everyday services, and it is the only part of Pitt Meadows you can realistically do a morning of errands in on foot.
Pitt Meadows has one genuine high street and this is it. The Official Community Plan defines the Town Centre as the higher density commercial and residential area roughly surrounding Harris Road from the Lougheed Highway up to 119th Avenue, and gives it its own zoning and its own development permit area. In practice that means a walkable few blocks holding the bulk of the city's restaurants, cafés, banks, clinics and small offices, with apartments going up above and behind them.
The civic buildings are here too. City Hall stands on Harris Road, the Pitt Meadows Family Recreation Centre and Spirit Square are a short walk away, and the West Coast Express station puts commuters onto the platform in the middle of it. Heritage Hall still sits further up Harris Road. If a business in Pitt Meadows is somewhere a resident walks to rather than drives to, it is almost certainly in this neighbourhood.
