Third Generation Painters is a residential painting company run by Brook Nullmeyer, who launched it in Thornbury, Ontario in the summer of 2020 and relocated to the Vernon area in January 2023. The name points to a family trade going back to 1977, when his grandfather founded Nullmeyer Painting and Decorating in Ontario cottage country, and to 1986, when his father started Keen and Kleen Student Painters in Barrie. The work today covers interior painting, exterior painting, cabinet refinishing, stain work, wood restoration and new construction painting.
Nullmeyer handles estimates, billing and client communication directly. Estimates are free and involve a site visit of 30 to 60 minutes with the homeowner present. The company carries $5 million in liability insurance, is Working at Heights certified and is registered with WorkSafeBC. Benjamin Moore products are used exclusively, including the Aura exterior line for UV resistance and cabinet-specific coatings, and the exterior painting service page sets out a prep-first sequence of caulking, scraping, sanding, wood filling and priming. As a contractor partner of North Okanagan Paint and Window Coverings, the business says it passes its 20 to 30 percent materials discount through to clients.
The published work is residential in character, from full-home repaints of walls, ceilings and trim to deck, fence and front-door restoration, though the company's FAQ notes it takes commercial projects as well. Pricing is quoted as a standard labor wage rate plus materials, with flat-rate quotes available on request. The cabinet refinishing page puts kitchens at a starting point around the $4,000 mark, with doors and drawer fronts removed and sprayed off site, boxes and frames sprayed in place, and finishes offered in matte, satin or semi-gloss. Most kitchens run one to two weeks. As of spring 2026 the company runs two teams of two to three painters.
Exterior work covers Hardie board and stucco as well as painted and stained wood. Wood restoration takes in cedar and pressure-treated decks, cedar siding and shakes, beams, pergolas, fences, front doors and windows, stripping failed finishes, sanding back greyed wood and repairing damaged boards. Third Generation Painters works in the Greater Vernon and North Okanagan areas of British Columbia. Greater Vernon is the primary service area, with regular coverage through Coldstream, Okanagan Landing and the SilverStar Foothills, work extending to Enderby, Armstrong and Lake Country, and select projects in Sicamous, Salmon Arm and Canoe.
